In the article “7 Things You Should Know About Clickers” (2005), the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative presents classroom scenarios in which “remote personal response systems” are used by students to interact with presented material by either choosing answers to questions or sending more detailed responses to the instructor. Clickers are touted as giving both students and faculty quick feedback about “mastery of content.” But are they too gimmicky? Are you afraid, as an article in The Chronicle stated recently, that the classroom will become a game show? Or do you think clickers really can enliven the setting?
